Rules of Conduct

For your reference, these are the latest FML rules and regulations that all new users receive and are expected to adhere to.

GENERAL CONDUCT

  • You must not upload any images or use any language anywhere in the game, game forums, website or peripheral services that could be perceived as offensive, obscene, racist or otherwise inappropriate. This includes, but is not limited to, racist comments, pornographic material, harassment or discrimination, and you should also avoid manipulating any area of the game in order to promote such views.
  • If you are subjected to any such abuse, or witness another user either issuing, or receiving such abuse, please contact one of the in-game moderators via the ''Report to Moderators'' tool in-game.
  • Please respect the rules of officially appointed persons both inside and outside the game. The decision of Sports Interactive/SEGA is final.
  • You must not attempt to impersonate Sports Interactive ("SI") or SEGA staff, or the in-game and forum moderators at any time or for any reason.
  • You must not use reporting someone to the FML support team as means of a threat, nor should you falsify information when reporting someone to the game moderators.
  • If a request is made by an in-game moderator please respect this. Please remember that the moderators are only following rules and regulations set down by SI and SEGA and as such should not be subject to abuse for their actions. Do not challenge a moderator's authority or undermine them in public. If you have a legitimate disagreement with any of the in-game moderators please contact Customer Support.

GAMEPLAY CONDUCT

  • Should you find a cheat or exploit in the game, rather than using it for your competitive advantage, you should report it immediately to one of the in-game moderators. Anyone found to be persistently using an exploit following a warning will be subject to a suspension or ban.
  • You must not use third party software to help you gain an advantage in-game. This includes, but is not exclusive to; macros, automation tools, bots, or auto-typers.
  • Each user account should only be used by the person that opened the account. You must not give, sell or lend your account, or any details relating to your account, to anyone else. In addition, you must not accept an account or account details from anyone else.
  • You are welcome to run accounts in more than one game world, but you must not use multiple accounts within the same game world. Users running multiple accounts within the same game world are liable to have all of their accounts in that world deactivated.
  • Do not encourage other users to break any of the FML rules.

LEGAL CONDUCT

  • FML has its own economy and in-game method for trading players and competition rewards. You must not offer to sell players for real life money or any other real life benefits. This also includes auctioning players on real life auction websites.
  • Similarly, you must not use FML as a means of selling, trading or lending any real world goods.
  • FML is an online football management game, with official in-game advertising. You must not use any part of the game or forums to advertise/promote your, or anybody else's products, companies or websites. This includes website URLs. The only exception for this is approved FML Community websites or blogs.
  • To protect everyone within each gaming world, you must not give out or request personal contact details from other users, nor should you post the personal details of any other user anywhere in the game or game forums. This includes real names, home/work/school addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers and instant messenger user names.
  • Please be advised that SEGA or SI will never ask for personal data within the game environment, if personal information is requested please inform a moderator that such a request has been made in order to enable SI and SEGA to investigate the matter further.

MATCHPLAY CONDUCT

  • Do make an effort to play scheduled matches before they reach their resolution date. Human-to-human matches are strongly encouraged in FML.
  • Reject (with a reason) rather than ignore match challenges from other users that you do not wish to accept.
  • Use the match chat to let your opponent know if, having accepted a match challenge, you are not ready to kick it off for a few minutes.
  • Do not 'throw' matches to give an advantage to other users. Games should be played between users competing to win. This includes using unrealistic formations or playing without a goalkeeper (or an outfield player in goal unless injury or suspension forces this) with the aim of boosting player stats or breaking gameworld records.
  • Users are expected to retain a high level of sportsmanship at all times and play the game in the correct spirit.

TRANSFER CONDUCT

  • Do not sell off your players below their realistic transfer value* or buy players at a price above their transfer value in the knowledge that you will be restarting your team or leaving your gameworld. Buying and selling teams are both liable to be punished.
  • All elements of a transfer deal should be completed at the same time. If you are unable to do this then the whole transfer should be delayed. The only exception is the use of the official payment instalment system.
  • If you are swapping players between clubs you should use the exchange player feature at all times.
  • Deliberate attempts to avoid a player's early sales tax are not allowed and can result in financial penalties being applied.
  • Avoid selling players for fees far below their realistic transfer value*. Please use the transfer auction system if you wish to sell for below this as this allows the whole gameworld to bid.
  • Do not give other teams an unfair advantage by using inflated transfer signings as a way to boost their accounts.
  • Loans of top class players should not be sent out at low or zero wages. Please make sure a decent contribution is made. Loans for youths or low reputation players can be made at any amount.
  • Do not make derisory bids that are obviously below the realistic transfer value of players owned by others. Please only bid for loans which you think are likely to be accepted - world class players are unlikely to be loaned unless advertised as available. Bidding low for players in the hope that they will accept by accident is against the rules and spirit of the game.
  • Do not private chat or send personal messages to managers you have not been previously negotiating a transfer with in order to try to sell them players.
  • You must not collude with others, either inside or outside the gameworld to artificially raise or lower prices for players.
  • Cross-Gameworld transfer deals are not allowed.
  • If you are likely to be sharing a computer or IP address with another user, please contact a moderator before making any transfers or loans between these accounts (only transfers between the linked teams need approval - you are welcome to buy and sell other players without approval).
  • If you have suspicions of illegal transfer activity by another manager, please use the 'Report to Moderators' tool in-game, where the issue will be investigated by the moderators. Discussions should not be held in public regarding the legality or otherwise, of another users play.

*Realistic Transfer Value is what a player would be expected to sell for in a public auction and is decided by the Moderators under guidance from SI and SEGA. This is based on a combination of Market Value, player age, player contract wage and equivalent recent player sales. The decision of SI and SEGA is final in this matter.

CHAT CONDUCT

  • Respect the function of each chat room. General discussion should take place in the 'Lobby' area, players available for sale are publicised in the 'Marketplace' and requests for assistance on gameplay issues are dealt with in the 'Help' room. The 'Tactics' room is there if you require assistance with improving your team and the 'TV Lounge' is for sociable viewing.
  • Avoid spamming the market place chat room. Please use the advertising box for adverts and the chat area for chat and player discussions. Adverts should be limited to one line every 10 minutes in the chat section.
  • Please make sure you send mail to the correct mailing list. Transfers should go to the 'Transfer Mailing List', Competitions to the 'Competition Mailing List', Football Association news to the 'Football Association Mailing List', Match incidents and discussions to the 'Matches Mailing List' and Votes to the 'Votes Mailing List'.
  • Please respect the 'Discussions Mailing List' - Make sure that you do not spam or abuse people through this.
  • Do not abuse other users or over-use profanities in chat. Offensive behaviour will be punished.
  • Keep in mind the fact that when in chat rooms, your comments will be read by users with a wide range of backgrounds and ages. Think before you type.
  • Equally, to ensure you are understood by all, try not to over-use text speak, other than common-place acronyms.
  • Piracy of any nature is not allowed - posting links to either pirated material or discussing how to obtain this could result in the loss of your account.
  • Currently FML is a UK-based game, and as such we request that all conversations in public chatrooms be conducted in English. If you have an issue which you cannot explain in English, please contact the in-game moderators in private and we will aim to translate for you.

The above rules are not meant to be exhaustive and any conduct that, in the opinion of SI/SEGA staff, is considered to:

  • Be against the spirit of the game,
  • Have a negative effect on the balance of a gameworld, or
  • Have a detrimental effect on another player's experience of the game

may result in appropriate disciplinary action being taken against the account.
